NGM Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Darren Turner as a Non-Executive Director to the NGM Group Board, effective 1 October 2024.
Mr Turner brings more than four decades’ experience to the role, including in strategy, governance and financial risk management. His past work with Greater Bank and Newcastle Permanent, and his strong connection to the Hunter region, provide him with a deep understanding of NGM Group, one of Australia’s largest customer-owned financial institutions.
This appointment sees the NGM Group Board expand to eight members, with Mr Turner joining:
- Samantha Martin-Williams
- Rod Jackson
- Nicola Page
- Catherine Robson
- Donna Maree Vinci
- Deputy Chair Jeff Eather, and
- Chair Wayne Russell.
Mr Russell said Mr Turner was a welcome addition to NGM Group, bringing extensive board and governance experience.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Darren to the Board. Darren brings significant experience in strategy, finance, governance and commercial risk from executive and non-executive board roles from organisations in diverse sectors. Further, he is a proud Novocastrian and really understands NGM Group’s commitment to helping our customers and communities to thrive, and to driving prosperity for regional Australia more broadly.”
Wayne Russell | NGM Group Board Chair
Mr Turner currently holds Director positions at Varley Group, Phoenix Health Fund and Hunter Medical Research Institute, among other key roles in private, public and not-for-profit organisations. He is also a Director of NSW Health Pathology and Chair of the Governance and Risk Committee of NEX Building Group.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Turner said, “Being invited to join the board of an organisation with such a strong local foundation, solid performance record and huge growth potential is an honour.
“As a Newcastle local, I’ve been very impressed by NGM Group’s commitment to the community, and I look forward in playing a part in that in the future.”
Darren will hold office until our Annual General Meeting later this year and stand for election as a Director at that meeting.
